Celesta A. Semenkow, 93, passed away on Thursday, January 25, 2024, in the Mount St. Rita Health Center, Cumberland. She was the wife of the late Paul I. Semenkow. They were married for 54 years.
Born in Brockton, MA, she was the daughter of the late Antonio and Rose (Blasi) Grasso, who migrated from Italy in 1914, settling in Brockton. Celesta resided in Cumberland for more than 60 years, previously residing in Brockton.
She was active in the Red Hat Society, and the Cumberland Senior Center serving as a secretary. She was an avid and outstanding bowler. She also enjoyed painting artistic pictures, but most of all she was an excellent mother and homemaker to her late husband and children and enjoyed spending time with her family.
She was a communicant of St. Aidan-St. Patrick Parish, Cumberland, and also a member of the Cumberland-Lincoln Chorus.
She was employed by Aetna Life and Casualty Insurance Company for many years until her retirement.
She is survived by her two sons: Paul Semenkow and his wife Susan of North Attleboro, MA., and James Semenkow and his wife Barbara of Lincoln. Her daughter: Debra Stowik and her husband Stanley Jr., of Cumberland. Her seven grandchildren, ten great-grandchildren along with many nieces and nephews. She was the sister of the late Peter Grasso, Mary Grasso, Pasquale Grasso, Rose Heaney, Angelo Grasso, John Grasso, Josephine Troy, Susan Webb, and Ann Burkard.
Relatives and friends are kindly invited to Celesta's Life Celebration to begin with Visiting Hours on Tuesday, January 30, 2024, from 4 PM to 7 PM, and continuing on Wednesday, January 31, 2024, at 9 AM in the J. J. Duffy Funeral Home, 757 Mendon Road Cumberland. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 AM in the St. Aidan-St. Patrick Parish, 1460 Diamond Hill Road Cumberland. Burial will follow in Resurrection Cemetery, Cumberland.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her memory to Hope Health Hospice and Palliative Care , 1085 North Main Street Providence, RI 02904.
