Catherine (Traynor Macaruso) Kalarian, 93, passed away on Monday, July 31, 2023, in the Philip Hulitar, Hope Hospice & Palliative Care Center Providence.
She was the daughter of the late Patrick and Mary (Hannon) Traynor. She was the wife of the late John Macaruso Sr. and Z. Stephen Kalarian. She was also the mother of the late John Macaruso Jr. She leaves her beloved daughters Mary Jane Rainone (William) of Chepachet, and Susan Lourenco (Gualter) of North Providence. She also leaves her wonderful stepdaughters and their spouses Stephanie Han (Sherwin) of Bristol, and Leigh Kendall (Bradford) of Rumford. Ten grandchildren: Lucas (Amanda), Tessa, Landon (Michelle), Johnna, Mariam (Jake), Nissan, Grace, Nathaniel, Stephen, and Lily (Ryan), whom she loved very much. Seven great-grandchildren: Ashton, Logan, Reece, Magnolia, Azalea, Ari, and Amelia. Her brother: Michael Traynor (Joanne) of Seekonk, MA. She was the sister of the late: James Traynor, Patrick Traynor, Mary "Auntie May" Marques, and Elizabeth "Aunie Betty Boop" Traynor.
She was a communicant of St. Phillips Church, Greenville.
Catherine worked for Peoples Bank for many years, and along with her late husband Stephen owned and operated Camelot Realty, Smithfield for several years.
Catherine enjoyed reading, golfing, dancing, sewing, and playing with her grand kids, but most of all spending time with her family.
Relatives and friends are kindly invited to Catherine's Life Celebration to begin with Visiting Hours on Wednesday, August 9, 2023, from 8:30 AM to 10:30 AM in the J. J. Duffy Funeral Home, 757 Mendon Road Cumberland. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 AM in St. Philips Church, 622 Putnam Pike, Greenville. Burial will follow in Mt. Calvary Cemetery, Cumberland.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her memory to the St. Jude's Children's Research Hospital, 262 Danny Thomas Place, Memphis, TN 38105 or Providence VA Hospital, 830 Chalkstone Avenue Providence, RI 02908.
