Brian M.
Rivard
Apr 3, 1959 — Sep 6, 2024
Cumberland
Brian M. Rivard, 65, passed away, from a yearlong battle with cancer, on Friday, September 6, 2024, in Hope Health Hulitar Hospice Center, Providence, surrounded by his family.
Born in New Bedford, MA., he was the son of Raymond and Lorraine (Viera) Rivard of Lakeland, FL. He resided in Cumberland for the past five years, previously residing in Pawtucket.
Brian was a member of the East Side Sport Fishing Club for more than 30 years.
Brian was a passionate fisherman and dedicated hockey fan who not only loved the game but also coached and played. He found joy in watching Westerns, especially those featuring John Wayne, as well as tuning in to sports or game shows. A proud member of several local dart leagues, Brian also enjoyed golfing in his younger years. Known for his sharp wit, stubborn nature, and remarkable ability to fix anything, he had a vast knowledge of cars despite it not being his profession. Though a man of few words, his care for others was always evident, and his sense of humor left a lasting impression on those fortunate enough to know him.
He was employed as a steam engineer for CBRE Inc., of Massachusetts for the past four years, previously being employed by Toyota, Foxboro and the Hebrew Center in Boston for over 30 years.
In addition to his parents, he is survived by his two beloved daughters: Erika Rivard of Pawtucket, Sara Charette and her husband Paul of Cumberland. His five grandchildren: Gage Charette, Hanna Charette, Adalina Soares, Arianna Soares, and Audriana Soares. One sister Patricia Choquette and partner Chris Fernandes, of Wareham, MA his brother Steven Rivard and his wife Monique of Acushnet, MA, along with several nieces and nephews.
Relatives and friends are kindly invited to Brian's Life Celebration to begin with Visiting Hours on Saturday, September 14, 2024, from 12 to 3 PM, followed by a Prayer Service at 3 PM in the J. J. Duffy Funeral Home, 757 Mendon Road Cumberland. Burial will be private.
