Brenden P. Mendes, 19, passed away on Monday, July 31, 2023.

Born in Providence, he was the son of Paul J. and Tammy M. (Sackal) Mendes of Cumberland. Brenden was a lifelong resident of Cumberland.

He was a 2021 graduate of Cumberland High School.

Brenden's adventurous spirit and love for excitement were evident in his many passions. He found great joy in the thrill of motorcycle rides, embracing the freedom of the open road. His love for video games was apparent to all, as he immersed himself in virtual worlds, sharing laughter and camaraderie with friends old and new.

An artist at heart, Brenden's talent knew no bounds. His sketching and painting of artwork captured his creativity. His natural talent inspired those who were fortunate enough to witness it. Brenden enjoyed being with his family, friends and his girlfriend Becca, outdoors, playing tennis, snowboarding, swimming, camping and hiking.

He had just started pursuing his career as a welder with Electric Boat/General Dynamics in Quonset this past year. Previously he was employed over the years at Chick-fil-A, Attleboro and River Falls Restaurant, Woonsocket.

Besides his parents he is survived by his sister Shelby Mendes of Cumberland. His maternal grandparents: Albert and Cindy Sackal of Central Falls, and his paternal grandmother, Margarida Mendes of Pawtucket, his uncles: Nelson Mendes, Derek Sackal, and his aunts: Melissa Power (Evan) and Kim Black (Brian), along with his cousins: Mason, Mallory, Eli, and Bryn. He was the grandson of the late Jose Mendes.

Relatives and friends are kindly invited to Brenden's Life Celebration to begin with Visiting Hours on Sunday, August 6, 2023 from 4 PM to 7 PM and continuing on Monday, August 7, 2023, with a Prayer Service at 10 AM in the J. J. Duffy Funeral Home, 757 Mendon Road Cumberland. Burial will follow in St. Basil Cemetery, Cumberland.
