Bonnie M. Billington, 81, of Cumberland, RI, died peacefully at Rhode Island Hospital on Friday, September 29th, 2023.
Born in Valley Falls, RI, in 1942, she was the daughter of the late Albert and Margaret (Boulais) Billington. Bonnie graduated from Cumberland High School and was later employed at various companies, including AT&T and Bank of America, during her career in customer service for over 40 years. She resided in Cumberland for most of her life.
Bonnie lived her life with hope and optimism and will always be remembered for her kindness, thoughtfulness, compassion, humor, and heartfelt love for her family. She always enjoyed the company of family and friends during holidays and get-togethers, as well as taking serene road trips throughout the New England countryside. From spontaneous visits to coastal towns in Maine or New Hampshire to her favorite scenic views on Ocean Drive in Newport, Rhode Island, she enjoyed exploring the endless beauty her home had to offer. Her memory will live on in the hearts of all those who loved her.
Bonnie was preceded in death by her siblings Barbara A. Lannigan and Albert W. Billington, and nephew Joseph A. Billington II. She is survived by her brother Joseph A. Billington; her brother-in-law, Peter Lannigan; her nieces and nephews, Michael Lannigan (Beth), Peter Lannigan (Karen), Matthew Billington (Sarah), Janet Eckman, and Linda Flues; as well as several great nieces and nephews.
Relatives and friends are kindly invited to Bonnie's life celebration to be held on Thursday, October 5th, at 10:00 AM at St. Aidan Church, 1460 Diamond Hill Road, Cumberland, RI 02864. Burial will follow the service at Resurrection Cemetery, 261 W Wrentham Road, Cumberland, RI 02864. Arrangements have been entrusted to the care of the J. J. Duffy Funeral Home.
