Benjamin T. Ang, 91, loving husband of Booklan (Lilia) Lee Ang for 64 years, passed away peacefully in the morning on Friday, February 9, 2024 surrounded by his family.

Born in Dagupan City in the Philippines, Ben was the second child of Ay Jin Tan and Mariano Ang Sr. He grew up in the Philippines surrounded by his twelve siblings. He came to the United States for college, attending San Francisco State College and graduating in 1956. After his graduation, he moved back to the Philippines where he worked for the family business, Lyric Studio, a photography studio in Manila. Following his retirement, he moved to the United States in 2002 and settled in Cumberland. He most recently resided in Providence at Elmhurst Rehabilitation and Healthcare Center, previously residing at Fogarty Manor in Pawtucket.

He was a congregant at the Chinese Christian Church of RI in Pawtucket and graced his family and those around him with his humor and friendly presence. He never forgot to thank people for doing things for him, no matter how small. He remembered people's names even after only meeting them a few times and would greet them with his warm smile and ask them how they were doing. He was often found reading the newspaper, taking note of the weather and daily events. A person with an insatiable appetite for vocabulary, he enjoyed flipping through the dictionary, on a hunt for new words. Always looking for a good deal, there were few things he enjoyed more than a good garage sale, and he and his wife Booklan would spend hours together on a good weekend searching for new treasures.

In addition to his wife, he leaves his two sons, George Ang and his wife Iris of Cumberland, RI, and Richard Ang and his wife Catherine of Medina, WA. He precedes five of his brothers and five of his sisters who reside in the Philippines. He also leaves seven grandchildren, Dillon Ang, Abby Ang, Jessie Ang, Ida Ang, Luke Ang, Richmond Ang, and Radleigh Ang and a number of nieces and nephews.

A memorial service will be held at the Chinese Christian Church of RI at 333 Roosevelt Avenue, Pawtucket, RI from 11 AM to 12:30 PM on Saturday, March 16, 2024. Virtual attendance will be available via Zoom.
