CUMBERLAND

Aurelio Pereira, 85,  of Cumberland, passed away on Thursday, March 28, 2024 at Hope Health in Providence surrounded by his loving family.  He was the husband of Maria Emilia (Caetano) Pereira and they had been married for the past 64 years.

Born in Figueiro da Serra, Portugal, he moved to this country in 1970, settling in Cumberland.

Mr. Pereira was employed as Machine Operator for the Northeast Cable Company for over 30 years until his retirement. He was previously a master Mason and Painter.

He was a communicant of Our Lady of Fatima Church, Fatima Drive, Cumberland.  Aurelio enjoyed playing cards, dominos, and gardening, but most of all loved spending time with his family, especially his  grandchildren and great-grandchildren.  Those who love him will remember his dedication to his family and his work, his fun loving nature, and his strong faith in Santa Eufemia.  He was a dedicate Sportinguista fan.

In addition to his wife, he leaves his daughter, Maria Isabel Santos and her husband Antonio of Cumberland, his son, Eduardo C. Pereira  and his wife Deborah of Cumberland;  his five grandchildren, Cristina, Daniel and his wife Leah, Rachel, Lauren and Evan and four great-grandchildren, Emilia, Joshua, Aria and Maia; as well as several nieces and nephews.

Relatives and friends are kindly invited to Aurelio's Life Celebration to be held with Visiting Hours on Monday, April 1, 2024 from 4 to 7 PM and continue on Tuesday, April 2, 2024 at 9 AM in the J. J. Duffy Funeral Home, 757 Mendon Road, Rt. 122, Cumberland.  A Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 10 AM at Our Lady of Fatima Church, Fatima Drive, Cumberland.  Burial will follow at Mt. Calvary Cemetery, Curran Road, Cumberland.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his memory to the Hope Health, 1085 North Main Street, Providence, RI 02904.
