Armando C. Dias, of Cumberland, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, May 13, 2025, surrounded by his loving family. He was the beloved husband of Natalia (Almeida) Dias.
Born in Contenças de Baixo, Portugal, he was the son of the late Carlos Dias Ribeiro and the late Clotilde da Conceicao Dias. In search of opportunity and a better life, Mr. Dias immigrated to the United States in 1975, settling in Central Falls and later moving to Cumberland where he would build a life defined by hard work, strong values, and deep devotion to his family.
Armando was a man of quiet strength and unwavering character. He was known for his kind heart, his dedication to family, and his love of music. A talented guitarist, he found great joy in sharing traditional Portuguese melodies with those around him. His happiest moments were spent in the company of his children, grandchildren, and great-grandson, often during family gatherings filled with laughter, food, and love. He was a communicant of Our Lady of Fatima Church, where he played guitar in the church choir for many years.
He is survived by his two sons: Joe Dias and his wife Carol of Palmetto, Florida, and Armando Dias, Jr. and his wife Helena of Millis, Massachusetts. He was the proud grandfather of Joe Dias Jr. of Hope Valley, Austin Dias of Dallas, Texas, and Christian Dias of Millis, Massachusetts; and the cherished great-grandfather of Jackson Dias. Mr. Dias is also survived by his siblings: Horacio Dias of Cumberland, Helena Taveira of Central Falls, Dozinda Santos of Central Falls, and Alcídio Dias of Central Falls. He was predeceased by his brother, Antonio Dias.
Relatives and friends are kindly invited to Armando's Life Celebration to be held with Visiting Hours on Thursday, May 15, 2025 from 4 to 7 PM and continue on Friday at 9 AM in the J. J. Duffy Funeral Home, 757 Mendon Road, Rt. 122, Cumberland. A Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 10 AM at Our Lady of Fatima Church, Fatima Drive, Cumberland. Burial will be private.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his memory to Our Lady of Fatima Church, 1 Fatima Drive, Cumberland, RI 02864.
