Antonio Julio Vaz, 69, of Cumberland, passed away peacefully on August 27, 2025, at Hope Health in Providence, RI.

Born on April 20, 1956, in Angola, he was the beloved son of the late Jose Vaz and Lucrecia Proença.

Antonio was the devoted husband of Maria de Fatima (Rolo) Vaz. The couple shared 45 years of marriage together, creating a life filled with love, family, and tradition. He moved to the United States in 1975 and made Rhode Island his lifelong home.

He was the proud father of Petra Ferreira and her husband David of Cumberland; and the cherished grandfather of Dylan Ferreira and Amelia Ferreira, also of Cumberland. Antonio was the dear brother of the late Maria de Fatima Vaz Monteiro and Lidia Seabra Lopes, and brother-in-law of Jose Monteiro; as well as his nephew Nuno and his two nieces, Xana and Filipa.

For 20 years, Antonio worked with Elmwood Sensors and with Day-O-Lite Inc. for another 20 years, and this past year he enjoyed serving as a bus monitor for the Cumberland Schools.

Antonio was a communicant of Our Lady of Fatima Church in Cumberland, where his faith was an important part of his life. A lifelong soccer fan, he especially loved cheering for his beloved Benfica.

He will be remembered as a devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend. His warmth and love will be deeply missed by all who knew him.

Relatives and friends are kindly invited to Antonio's Life Celebration with a Mass of Christian Burial on Saturday, September 6, 2025 at 10 AM in Our Lady of Fatima Church, Fatima Drive, Cumberland. Visitation will be respectfully omitted.
