Obituary

Antonio "Tony" Coimbra, 71, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend, passed away surrounded by the love of his family on Friday, September 4, 2026.

Born on June 10, 1955, in Portugal, Tony carried with him throughout his life a deep appreciation for family, tradition, and the simple pleasures that brought him happiness. He was a devoted family man whose greatest joy came from spending time with those he loved.

Tony shared his life with his beloved wife, Ana Coimbra, and was the proud and loving father of Sylvia Fidalgo and her husband, John Fidalgo, and Jessica Coimbra and her husband, Andy Fernandez. He especially treasured his role as grandfather to Evan Fidalgo, Landen Fidalgo, and Aliyah Fernandez, who brought tremendous happiness and pride to his life. He is also survived by his two sisters in Portugal, Lurdes Abrantes and Isabel Luz.

For nearly 40 years, Tony was a dedicated employee of General Cable, where his strong work ethic and commitment were hallmarks of his career. Following his retirement, he embraced the opportunity to enjoy life at a more leisurely pace.

His summers were often spent camping in Jamestown, where he could enjoy the outdoors, go fishing, and appreciate the beauty of Rhode Island's coastline. Tony also enjoyed hunting, traveling, and following European soccer. Few things could rival the enjoyment of settling in to watch a good soccer match. These pastimes reflected his love of the outdoors, his Portuguese roots, and his appreciation for time well spent with family and friends.

Above all else, Tony will be remembered for the love he had for his family and the many memories they created together. His presence will be deeply missed, but the stories, traditions, laughter, and love he shared will remain with those who knew him for years to come.

Relatives and friends are kindly invited to Tony's Life Celebration, beginning with visitation on Wednesday, September 9, 2026, from 5:00 to 7:00 PM in the J. J. Duffy Funeral Home, 757 Mendon Road, Route 122, Cumberland RT 122.

Relative and friends are invited to go directly to a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 AM on Thursday September 10, 2026, at Our Lady of Fatima Church, 1 Fatima Drive, Cumberland, RI 02864.

Antonio's burial will be private.
