Antonio Andrade, 88, of Cumberland, passed away on August 13, 2025 in Portugal. He was the beloved husband of Maria Do Céu (Figueiredo) Andrade and they had been married for the past 69 years.
Born on October 1, 1936, in Sangemil, Penalva do Castelo, Portugal, he was the son of the late Jose and Herminia (da Costa) Andrade. Antonio was educated at Penalva do Castelo School, completing his studies through the 4th grade before beginning a life dedicated to his family and hard work.
He came to the United States in 1969, after being in Mozambique, Africa with his family, arriving in New York City and finally settling in Cumberland.
Antonio was a man of quiet strength, humility, and devotion. His greatest joy in life came from being surrounded by those he loved, especially his beloved grandchildren. He was a dedicated and passionate BENFICA fan, he loved being part of his children's sports, both hockey and soccer. He was a member of the Clube Juventude Lusitana in Cumberland.
In addition to his wife Maria, he leaves behind his children, Denis Andrade and his wife Nazare of Cumberland, and Rose Silva, and her husband George of Cumberland; his siblings, Fernanda Silva and Emilia Andrade; his five grandchildren, Lori, Daniel, Diane, Derek, and Eric and eight great-grandchildren, Alden, Adriana, Maxwell, Michael, Owen, Cameron, Madison, and Ruby; as well as several nieces and nephews. He was the brother of the late Maria De Jesus Andrade and Emidio Da Costa Andrade.
Relatives and friends are kindly invited to Antonio's Life Celebration to be held with a Mass of Christian Burial on Thursday, August 21, 2025 at 12 NOON in Our Lady of Fatima Church, Fatima Drive, Cumberland. Burial will follow at Mt. Calvary Cemetery, Cumberland.
