Antonetta "Etta" M. (Imondi) O'Brien, 88, passed away in the presence of her loving family on Friday, May 10, 2024, at HopeHealth Hospice Center in Providence. She was the daughter of the late Frances (Falso) and Simeone Imondi. She was predeceased by her husband of 54 years, Samuel P. O'Brien.

A lifelong resident of Rhode Island, she was born in Providence and raised her family in Scituate before spending her later years in Lincoln.

A graduate of Hope High School in 1953, she worked as a bookkeeper for Sonitrol Security Systems.

Etta, as she was affectionately known, will always be remembered for her kind and nurturing spirit. She was selflessly and tirelessly devoted to her family, especially her sons, and her three grandchildren whom she loved very much. Throughout her life, she had a very strong bond with her sister Joanne, who provided her with loving support, especially in her later years.

She leaves her two sons, Joseph P. O'Brien, MD, and his wife, Amy, of Upper Saddle River, NJ, and Michael A. O'Brien and his wife, Janet, of North Attleboro, MA; her cherished grandchildren, Aidan, Evan, and Ella; and her sister Joanne Ross of West Greenwich. She is also predeceased by her brother Anthony Imondi.

Relatives and friends are kindly invited to Etta's Life Celebration to be held with Visiting Hours on Thursday, May 16, 2024, from 4 to 7 PM at the J. J. Duffy Funeral Home, 757 Mendon Road, Rt. 122, Cumberland, RI. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday, May 17, 2024, at 10 AM at St. Joan of Arc Church, 3357 Mendon Road, Cumberland, RI.
