Antero R. Menezes, 95, passed away on Thursday, October 6, 2022 in the Miriam Hospital, Providence. He was the husband of Maria A. (Raposo) Menezes. They have been married for the past 67 years.

Born in Torre de Moncorvo, Portugal, he was the son of the late Adelino A. Menezes and Teodolinda Menezes. He came to this country in 1977, settling in Cumberland, then moving to Central Falls in 1982.

Antero was an avid hunter in the United States and in Angola, the former Portuguese colony, where he resided for 34 years.

He was the Proprietor and Owner of A. Menezes Dispatching and Trading Inc., of Pawtucket, for the past 40 years. While in Angola, he was a business man, owning a hotel, a grocery store, and a few farms.

Besides his wife, he leaves two children: Dalcina M. Craveiro and her husband Henrique of Lincoln, and Olimpio A. Menezes and his wife Maria C. Relhas of Lincoln. One adopted son, Manuel F. Raposo of Central Falls. He is survived by four grandchildren: Joao Pedro, Vanessa, Bruno, and Soraya; his five great-grandchildren: Dylan, Joao P, Olivia, Alexia, and Isabella, along with many nieces and nephews. He was pre-deceased by thirteen brothers and sisters.

Relatives and friends are kindly invited to Antero's Life Celebration to begin with Visiting Hours on Tuesday, October, 11, 2022 from 5 PM to 8 PM and continuing on Wednesday, October 12, 2022 at 9 AM in the J. J. Duffy Funeral Home, 757 Mendon Road Cumberland. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 AM in Our Lady of Fatima Church, 1 Fatima Drive Cumberland. Burial will follow in Mt. Calvary Cemetery, Cumberland.
