Anna (Taras) Serafin, 74, of Providence, Rhode Island, passed away peacefully on Monday, September 28, 2026. She was the wife of the late Antoni Serafin and they had been married for the past 56 years.

Born in Poland to Jan and Wiktoria (Nykiel) Taras, Anna emigrated to the United States in 1977, settling in Brooklyn, NY and only a few years later moving to their first and forever home in Providence, RI.

Our mom worked as a seamstress for HealthTex Inc in Central Falls for many years until her retirement. Her life was devoted to taking care of her children, grandchildren and family, that was her profession and she did it wonderfully.

She enjoyed sewing, gardening, cooking, reupholstering furniture, blueberry picking, as well as many other hobbies. She loved finding furniture someone left on the sidewalk that she rescued and gave it a fresh look. People must have laughed seeing this little lady doing that, but she made every item look amazing. Her energy was contagious. We will miss the pierogi/golumpki phone calls and deliveries to doctors and friends she made along the way.

She most loved spending time with her family and finishing her day off with Wheel of Fortune or even a baseball game asking Greg who’s winning, with her beautiful smile . She traveled with her husband throughout the country and Canada in our “Big Red Van” to support our family. Trips to San Antonio to see Mirek in the Air Force, Alina in Colorado to see Caitlin when she was so little, supporting Greg in his baseball dreams , and Mario with his beautiful family who has all inspired us following our parents values in life . Family, friends whoever walked through our front door our mom was so happy for you stopping by. It meant everything to her. She would do anything for anyone. The strongest “Mamo” in the world . She was the loving mother of four: Mariusz "Mario" Serafin, Alina (Serafin) Isom, Miroslaw "Mirek" Serafin, and Grzegorz "Gregory" Serafin. She was also a caring grandmother of four, Caitlin (Isom) Watson, Brandon Isom, Georgia Serafin and Alex Serafin.

She is survived by her children and grandchildren; and her sister, Zofia Szewczyk. She was the sister of the late Janina Szewczyk.

Relatives and friends are kindly invited to Anna's Life Celebration which will begin on Monday, October 5, 2026 with visitation from 4 to 7 PM in the J.J Duffy Funeral Home, 757 Mendon Road, Cumberland RT 122, and continues Tuesday, October 6, 2026 at 8:30 followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 AM in St. Joseph's Church, 391 High Street, Central Falls. Burial will be private.

In lieu of donations, the family welcomes flowers or perennial plants in Anna’s memory, in honor of her love for flowers and gardening. Perennial plants will be lovingly planted and care for by her family as a lasting remembrance of Anna for years to come.
