SIMAO, Anibal deJesus, 84, of Cumberland passed away on Wednesday, October 12, 2022 at home surrounded by his loving family. He was the beloved husband of Carolina (Rei) Simao.
Born in Prados, Portugal, he was the son of the late Ana Simaoand the late Jose Simao. He was the brother of Andre, Audette, Antonio and the late Serafim and the late Eduardo. He moved to this country in 1972, settling in the Valley Falls section of Cumberland.
Mr. Simao was employed as a Foreman for the Wardwell Braiding Company for many years until his retirement.
Anibal enjoyed working in his garden, building things around the house, and he had a passion for making wine. He also enjoyed telling stories, playing jokes and spending time with his grandchildren.
In addition to his wife, he leaves his children, Carmen Lemelin and her husband Denis of Cumberland, Maria Fontaine and her husband Christopher of South Attleboro,
Jose Simao and his wife Brenda of Pawtucket, Alice Msumba and her husband Akim of Providence, Rosette Levesque and her husband Randy of Warwick, and Diane Borrelli and her husband Damon of East Greenwich; his seven grandchildren, Krysta, Michaela, Riley, Olivia, Simaya, Holden, and Santino.
Relatives and friends are kindly invited to Anibal's Life Celebration to be held with Visiting Hours on Sunday, October 16, 2022 from 4 to 7 PM and continue on Monday, October 17, 2022 at 10 AM in the J. J. Duffy Funeral Home, 757 Mendon Road, Rt. 122, Cumberland. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 AM at Our Lady of Fatima Church, Cumberland. Burial will follow at the Resurrection Cemetery, Cumberland.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his memory to Hope Hospice and Palliative Care, 1085 North Main Street, Providence, RI 02904.
