CUMBERLAND

Americo Martins Ferreira, 79, of Cumberland passed away peacefully on Thursday, November 28, 2024 at Rhode Island Hospital, Providence surrounded by his loving family.  He was the husband of Candida Conceicao Moreira Dos Santos Ferreira and they had been married for the past fifty-nine years.

Born in Figueiro da Serra, Portugal he was the son of the late Jose and Maria (Martins) Ferreira.  He moved to this country in 1968, settling in Cumberland where he resided for most of his life.

Mr. Ferreira was employed as a Machine Operator at Carol Cable since 1974 until his retirement.

Americo had many talents and had a passion for the arts.  He enjoyed singing, writing music and poems.  In addition, he was a talented artist and painter.   Most of all he loved spending time with his family, especially his beloved grandchildren.

In addition to his wife, he leaves his two sons, Carlos Ferreira and Fatima Luis his wife of London,  and Antonio Ferreira and his wife Maria of Attleboro; his brother Manuel Ferreira of Mina Gerais, Brazil; his four beloved grandchildren, Julia, Ethan, Katarina and Megan Ferreira; as well as several nieces and nephews.   He was the brother of the late Delfin Ferreira.

Relatives and friends are kindly invited to Americo's Life Celebration to be held with Visiting Hours on Wednesday, December 4, 2024 from 8 AM to 11 AM in the J. J. Duffy Funeral Home, 757 Mendon Road, Rt. 122, Cumberland.   A Mass of Christian Burial will take place at 11:30 AM in Our Lady of Fatima Church, Fatima Drive, Cumberland.  Burial will follow in the Mt. Calvary Cemetery, Cumberland.
