Alfredo Moreira, age 78, passed away peacefully at home, surrounded by the love and comfort of his family, leaving behind a life well lived. He was the beloved husband of Gloria Moreira, with whom he shared 54 years of marriage. He was the son of Silvestre Moreira and Maria do Carmo.

Alfredo is survived by his three children: Michael Moreira and his wife Karen, Jeanne Reilly and her husband Michael, and Natalie Brothers and her husband Michael. He was a proud grandfather to Colby, Quinn, Marshall, Livia, and Arianna, who brought him immense joy and were the light of his life.He was the brother of the late Jose Moreira and his late wife, Amelia Moreira; the late Antonio Moreira and his late wife, Isabel Moreira; the late Manuel Moreira and his wife, LaSalete Moreira; the late Delfin Moreira and his late wife, Rosa Moreira; the late Judith Gabriel and her late husband Antonio Gabriel and living siblings Arthur Moreira and his wife, Dilar Moreira, Emilia (Moreira) Almeida and her husband, Joseph C. Almeida.He was the uncle of three generations of nieces and nephews.

Born in Portugal, Alfredo proudly served in the Portuguese Marines before immigrating to the United States in pursuit of opportunity and a better future. A true example of hard work and determination, he built his life through dedication and perseverance.

Alfredo was self-employed for many years as a house painter and later invested in properties, restoring them with care and selling them with pride. His entrepreneurial spirit led him to open Make My Day Donuts in Cumberland, where he personally ran the business and made the donuts himself—something many in the community came to know and appreciate.
He also worked as a maintenance man for the Cumberland School Department, where his strong work ethic and reliability were evident every day. No matter the job, Alfredo took pride in doing things the right way.

In his free time, Alfredo enjoyed making his own Portuguese wine, a craft he truly loved. He generously shared it with anyone who came to visit, often sending them home with a bottle as a gesture of friendship. He also loved watching soccer, especially cheering on his favorite team, Sporting, which brought him great joy and kept him connected to his Portuguese roots.

Above all, Alfredo was a devoted family man. His legacy of hard work, integrity, generosity, and love will live on through his family and all who knew him.

Alfredo Moreira will be remembered for his strength, kindness, and unwavering dedication to providing for his family. He will be deeply missed.

Relatives and friends are kindly invited to Alfredo's Life Celebration to be held with Visiting Hours on Saturday, December 27, 2025 from 9 to 10:30 AM in the J. J. Duffy Funeral Home, 757 Mendon Road, Rt. 122, Cumberland.  A Mass of Christian Burial at 11 AM in St. Aidan Church, 1460 Diamond Hill Road, Cumberland.  Burial will be private.
