CUMBERLAND

Albert J. Rodrigues, 36, of Cumberland, passed away on Wednesday, March 20, 2024, at the Miriam Hospital in Providence. He was the son of Antonio and Suzanne (Nolette) Rodrigues.

Albert graduated from Cumberland High School. He was a member of the high school band and participated in the Unified Soccer League and Special Olympics while at the high school, and beyond.

Albert earned a black belt single stripe in Kenshu Ryu Karate under Grand Master Mark Sheeley and participated in many tournaments, winning numerous awards.

Albert worked at Jorge's Garage and took great pride in the work he did, and his work ethic was inspirational.

He enjoyed traveling, especially to Portugal, Disney World, and New Hampshire. He especially enjoyed going to his beach cottage in Provincetown, Cape Cod, where he also had many lifelong friends.

Albert was a communicant of Our Lady of Fatima Church and a member of the Holy Name Society. He was also a member of the Madeira Club, where he spent many afternoons with good friends.

Albert was an avid Benfica soccer fan and a devout Boston Bruins fan.

We will all remember Albert's constant and contagious smile, as well as his positive outlook on life and its challenges. He adored all kinds of cars and trucks but was undoubtedly a "GMC" guy.

In addition to his beloved parents, he leaves his loving and incredible brother, Tony, and his wife, Heather, as well as his awesome nephews Luke and John, and niece Cassie. He is also survived by his aunts and uncles, Frances and John Dombrowski, Hilda and Thadde Potrzeba, Elena and Jose Vicente, and Antonio Marques, and his great-aunt Hilda Neves, as well as many loving and caring cousins and friends.

Relatives and friends are kindly invited to Albert's Life Celebration to be held with Visiting Hours on Sunday, March 24, 2024, from 4 to 7 PM and continue on Monday, March 25, 2024, at 10 AM at the J. J. Duffy Funeral Home, 757 Mendon Road, Rt. 122, Cumberland. Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 11 AM at Our Lady of Fatima Church, Fatima Drive, Cumberland. Burial will be held at Mt. Calvary Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his memory to the Special Olympics Rhode Island, 370 George Washington Highway, Smithfield, RI 02917.
