Albano Goncalves, 96, passed away on Thursday, July 14, 2022 at home surrounded by his loving family. He was the husband of Mariana (de Jesus) Goncalves. They were married for the past 67 years.

Born in Mangualde, Portugal, he was the son of the late Joao and Eduarda (Martins) Goncalves. Albano came to the United States in 1983 settling in Central Falls and then in Cumberland for more than 30 years.

He was a communicant of Our Lady of Fatima Church, Cumberland.
He was a member of the Clube Juventude Lusitana, Cumberland. Albano was a Benfica Football Club fan, and also enjoyed gardening, reading and playing cards, but most of all spending time with his beloved grandson Paul, family and friends.

He was employed by the former Puritan Company, Cumberland for many years as a machine operator. While in Portugal Albano was a Horse Farrier and also ran his own meat stand occasionally.

Beside his wife, he is survived by his daughter Maria da Graca Silva and her husband Jose Paulo of Cumberland and one grandson Paul Silva of Cumberland. He was the brother of the late Antonio Goncalves.

Relatives and friends are kindly invited to Albano's Life Celebration to begin with Visiting Hours on Wednesday, July 20, 2022 from 5 PM to 8 PM and continuing on Thursday, July 21, 2022 at 8 AM in the J. J. Duffy Funeral Home, 757 Mendon Road Cumberland. A mass of christian burial will be held at 9 AM in Our Lady of Fatima Church, 1 Fatima Drive Cumberland. Burial will take place in the Town Cemetery of Mangualde, Portugal.
