Acacio Saraiva, 81, passed away on Tuesday, November 12, 2024, at home. He was the husband of Maria G. (Bulcao) Saraiva, and the late Laurinda Saraiva.
Born in Linhares da Beira, Portugal, he was the son of the late Alfredo and Amelia Saraiva. Acacio came to this country in 1967, settling in Cumberland.
Acacio was a member of the Clube Juventude Lusitana, Cumberland. He was a devoted Benfica soccer fan and found joy in fishing, painting by numbers, making wine and tending to his cherished rose bushes, but most of all he enjoyed spending time with his family.
He was employed as a lead man for American Insulated Wire, Pawtucket until his retirement in 2001.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by his two children: Elizabeth Cardoso and husband Antonio of Cumberland, and Alfredo Saraiva of Cumberland. His brother Armenio Saraiva of Cumberland and his sister Emilia Mimoso of Portugal. His five grandchildren: Jessica Bouchard, Alexander Cardoso, Madison Gardner, Devon Saraiva, and Emerson Saraiva, his great-grandchildren: Lydia, Noah, Owen, and baby Gardner, along with several nieces and nephews. He was the father-in-law of the late Susan Saraiva and brother of the late Julieta Moura.
Relatives and friends are kindly invited to Acacio's Life Celebration to begin with Visiting Hours on Sunday, November 17, 2024, from 4 PM to 7 PM and continuing on Monday, November 18, 2024, at 9 AM in the J. J. Duffy Funeral Home, 757 Mendon Road Cumberland. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 AM in Our Lady of Fatima Church, Fatima Drive Cumberland. Burial will follow in Mt. Calvary Cemetery, Cumberland.
